The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ogun State, Hon. Kazeem Olanrewaju Shokunbi, has congratulated the Otunba Akeem Adigun, SOCOPAO, the Apagunpote of Yewaland, on his 74th birthday, describing him as an illustrious son and respected elder whose contributions to Yewaland remain worthy of commendation.
Shokunbi, in a congratulatory message, celebrated Adigun’s life of service, leadership and commitment to the development of his community, saying his 74 years had been marked by valuable contributions to the growth and progress of Yewaland and Ogun State.
The ADP governorship candidate described the celebrant as a repository of wisdom and experience whose counsel had continued to be valuable to younger generations and those committed to the advancement of the state.
According to him, Otunba Adigun’s commitment to the welfare of his people had earned him widespread respect, noting that his influence extended beyond his immediate community.
Shokunbi said the birthday provided an opportunity not only to celebrate the achievements of the elder statesman but also to acknowledge the importance of elders and community leaders in shaping the future of Ogun State.
He prayed for continued good health, wisdom, peace and fulfilment for Adigun, expressing confidence that the celebrant would continue to make meaningful contributions to the development of Yewaland and the state.
The ADP candidate said Ogun State was at a critical point in its political and developmental journey, stressing the need for experienced leaders and elders to play active roles in building a better future for the people.
Shokunbi therefore appealed to Otunba Adigun to lend his wealth of experience, counsel and influence to the political efforts of the Action Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He said his aspiration to govern Ogun State was driven by a desire to provide a credible alternative and promote a government that would be more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
The ADP candidate noted that his administration, if elected, would prioritise inclusive governance, economic development, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure and the welfare of residents across the state.
Shokunbi maintained that achieving meaningful transformation in Ogun State would require the collective support and participation of traditional leaders, elders, professionals, youths, women and other critical stakeholders.
He said the support and guidance of respected individuals such as Otunba Adigun would be particularly valuable in strengthening the party’s campaign and broadening its engagement with communities across Yewaland and Ogun State.
The governorship candidate further urged other stakeholders in Yewaland to join hands with the ADP in its quest to provide what he described as a fresh political direction for the state ahead of the 2027 election.
He assured the people that his campaign would remain focused on issues that directly affect their lives, promising to promote accountability, inclusive development and effective representation if entrusted with the mandate.
Shokunbi concluded by wishing Otunba Adigun many more years of fruitful service to humanity, saying he looked forward to benefiting from the elder’s wisdom and support as the state approaches the 2027 governorship election.
