Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ketu Zone of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed Hon. Jemili Akingbade Adigun as the party’s consensus candidate for the State House of Assembly seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached at a strategic meeting held on May 1, 2026, at St. Patrick College, Imeko, where party elders, executives, and critical stakeholders gathered to deliberate on unity and electoral strategy.
The Ketu Zone comprises six wards—Imeko, Okeagbede Moriwi, Ilara, Iwoye, Idofa, and Kajola Agberiodo—making it a key bloc in the political configuration of the local government.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the stakeholders said their decision followed extensive consultations and was in alignment with the directive of the party’s apex leadership on consensus building.
They noted that the adoption of Akingbade Adigun reflects a collective commitment to strengthening internal cohesion and avoiding divisive contests within the party.
According to the communiqué, the endorsement is unanimous and binding on all members of the party within the zone.
The leaders described Akingbade Adigun as a loyal party stalwart with strong grassroots appeal and a track record of mobilising support for the APC across the constituency.
They also praised his role as a bridge-builder, noting that his political engagements have fostered unity and inclusiveness among diverse interest groups in the area.
The stakeholders further highlighted his contributions to community development, describing him as a candidate with proven capacity to deliver quality representation.
They added that his emergence as consensus candidate represents equity, competence, and the broader strategic interest of the party to retain the Imeko-Afon State Constituency seat.
As part of the resolutions, party leaders directed all ward chairmen, executives, youth leaders, women leaders, and party faithful to align with the decision.
They urged members to immediately commence mobilisation efforts in support of Akingbade Adigun ahead of the 2027 elections.
The communiqué also called for coordinated grassroots engagement to consolidate the party’s support base across all six wards. In addition to backing Akingbade Adigun, the stakeholders pledged support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola in his political ambition ahead of the general elections.
They also reaffirmed their loyalty to the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, commending his leadership and performance in office.
The group expressed readiness to deploy its political structure and resources to ensure victory for APC candidates at all levels in the state.
They further declared support for Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as a member of the House of Representatives.
The stakeholders emphasised that unity remains critical to the party’s success, urging all aggrieved members to embrace reconciliation and collective progress.
They also appealed to the State Working Committee of the party to recognise the resolution and provide necessary support to strengthen party cohesion in Imeko-Afon.
According to them, such support would deepen internal democracy and enhance the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
The communiqué concluded that the resolution was adopted without dissent, underscoring the shared resolve of APC leaders in the Ketu Zone.
The stakeholders expressed confidence that Akingbade Adigun would provide effective representation and further consolidate the party’s dominance in the constituency.
