..Actor, poet says passion for literature inspired entertainment career
…Advises upcoming talents to remain focused and never give up
Popular actor and poet, Adeniji Samuel, widely known in the entertainment industry as PsalmSong, has shared his journey into acting, revealing how his passion for literature and stage performances shaped his career in the movie industry.
Speaking during an interview, PsalmSong described himself as both a poet and actor who has remained committed to entertaining and inspiring people through creative works.
According to him, his educational journey began at Taula Senior Secondary School before he gained admission into Ekiador College of Education, Benin City, Edo State, where he studied English and Literature.
The actor explained that his background in literature exposed him to stage performances and dramatic presentations, which eventually strengthened his acting abilities.
“I started acting a long time ago while I was still in school because we always performed stage presentations in literature classes. That experience helped me become the actor I am today,” he said.
PsalmSong noted that the entertainment industry comes with several challenges, stressing that every individual faces different struggles while pursuing success.
He, however, maintained that determination and consistency remain important virtues for anyone seeking to excel in the profession.
Speaking on role models in the movie industry, the actor said he admires many senior actors and actresses rather than looking up to one specific individual.
According to him, every experienced actor in the industry contributes uniquely to the growth of entertainment in Nigeria.
The poet further recalled that his early love for poetry, singing and public speaking gave him confidence to perform before audiences during his school days.
He admitted that acting could sometimes be stressful and demanding but insisted that passion for the job keeps him going despite the difficulties.
“There are times one gets tired and stressed, but I keep moving because acting is my profession,” he stated.
On balancing family life and professional responsibilities, PsalmSong said he ensures that both his home and career receive adequate attention.
He explained that maintaining stability between personal life and work is necessary for long-term success in the entertainment industry.
The actor also disclosed that he has produced several movies, including Oju Okun, Ile Baba Mi and Okuta Ebi, among others.
Speaking on opportunities abroad, PsalmSong said although he loves travelling and vacations, he would always return to Nigeria because of his family and career.
He stressed that his love for his country and commitment to his craft would not allow him to permanently settle outside Nigeria.
The entertainer used the opportunity to encourage young people aspiring to become actors and entertainers not to lose hope despite challenges.
He advised upcoming talents to remain focused, determined and confident in pursuing their dreams.
“Never allow anything to bring you down and never give up because you can do it,” he advised.
PsalmSong added that persistence, hard work and self-belief are essential qualities required for anyone who hopes to make a lasting impact in the entertainment industry.
